Local Artist Demonstration by Kasia Drake-Hames on Wycinanki, Polish paper cutting. Her demonstration will be at our store THIS Saturday, March 13th from 1pm to 2pm. Kasia will be demonstrating the traditional Polish art form of Wycinanki (paper-cutting. She will demonstrate how to do a few different designs, and will also be giving some background history on the art form itself. It will be fun and informational for all ages! December 5th we will be having a tie dye demonstration and workshop from 11 am to noon. Fun for all ages! no cost to participate, please register in advance by stopping in the store or calling ahead.

Utrecht at MIAD is featuring artist Jean Christel now Through Februaury 20th.

Jean’s drawings consist of bugs, chickens, cats and cars. She uses oil pastel, acrylic and collage elements in her work. These images are very charged and full of color.  Brings to mind Basquait and has an outsider art quality to them. Jean graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 1994. She has also shown at the Rhar Museum in Manitowoc. Check out Jean’s work on our Artspan gallery site.

Elaine Erickson Gallery presents Sympathetic Fibers - Recent Prints and Drawings by Rina Y. Yoon. Elaine Erickson Gallery (207 E. Buffalo St., Ste. 120) presents Sympathetic Fibers - Recent Prints and Drawings by Rina Y. Yoon. Human body continues to be the main focus of Rina Yoon’s new work.  Filled with hundreds of delicate marks, her large-scale prints are suggestive of internal bodily systems. In the title of the show, she refers to the sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for sustaining a balance of body functions under stress, and keeping its vital operations in order. Opening Friday, January 16, 11am to 9pm. Reception for the artist Saturday, January 17, 1pm to 3:30pm.  Exhibition through February 23.
